ISPR confirms major intelligence-based operations in Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan, killing 15 terrorists including key ringleader

Pakistan security forces neutralised 15 terrorists, including key ringleader Alam Mehsud, during intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the ISPR. Operations targeted Indian-backed Fitna al-Khawarij militants. Separately, a suicide bomber killed himself in Bannu with no other casualties, following recent attacks in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Star Struck Times) — Pakistan security forces eliminated 15 terrorists, including a prominent ringleader linked to the Indian proxy Fitna al-Khawarij, during two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Tuesday.

The operations, carried out between November 8 and 9, targeted terrorists reportedly supported by Indian intelligence. The first operation in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district resulted in the killing of 10 terrorists, including Alam Mehsud, identified as a key militant ringleader.

In a subsequent operation in Datta Khel, North Waziristan, security forces neutralised five additional terrorists, according to ISPR. The military’s media wing stated that sanitisation operations continue to ensure no other militants remain active in the region.

“Relentless counter-terrorism efforts under the federal vision Azm e Istehkam will continue at full pace,” the ISPR said, highlighting the commitment to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.

Separately, a suicide bomber detonated himself near Basia Khel police station in Bannu, with no casualties reported. Police confirmed the incident occurred at Do Ghora Bridge, where the attacker, riding a motorcycle, detonated explosives. Law enforcement immediately cordoned off the area and launched a thorough investigation.

The Bannu blast comes in the wake of the Islamabad Judicial Complex attack on November 11, which claimed 12 lives and wounded at least 36 individuals, including lawyers and petitioners. Federal authorities have since arrested four members of a TTP/Fitna al-Khawarij cell allegedly linked to the attack.

Residents and local authorities praised the security forces’ prompt response. A Bannu citizen commented, “It is reassuring to see swift action. Our safety depends on vigilance and decisive operations.” Another source familiar with the military’s campaign said, “Neutralising key ringleaders sends a strong message to foreign-backed elements trying to destabilize the region.”

Security analysts note that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains a strategic hotspot for cross-border terrorism, making continued intelligence-led operations critical. “Operations like these not only prevent attacks but dismantle networks at their roots,” an expert explained.

The ISPR confirmed that counter-terrorism operations will remain ongoing, emphasizing that Pakistan remains committed to eradicating all foreign-sponsored terrorist elements, and maintaining peace in volatile regions. The Bannu suicide incident, while contained, underscores the ongoing threat from militant cells and the importance of coordinated security measures.
