Mumbai, September 10, 2026

Ajay Devgn wants Mohanlal and Malayalam Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph to watch Drishyam: The Conclusion before forming their opinion of the Hindi franchise’s final chapter. Speaking at the trailer launch on September 9, Devgn said he would be particularly pleased if the two filmmakers approved of the film, while stressing that the Hindi and Malayalam third instalments follow different stories.

“I want Lal sir and Jeethu sir to see the film, and if we get their approval and they love it, it will make me very happy,” Devgn said at the event. He also explained that while the second Hindi film drew inspiration from the Malayalam original, the new film is not simply a modified version of Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3.

Key points

  • Ajay Devgn wants Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph to watch Drishyam: The Conclusion.
  • Devgn says the Hindi third instalment has a completely different story from Malayalam Drishyam 3.
  • Abhishek Pathak directs the Hindi film, with Devgn returning as Vijay Salgaonkar.
  • Tabu and Shriya Saran reprise their roles, while Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj join the cast.
  • Drishyam: The Conclusion releases in theatres on October 2, 2026.

Why the two Drishyam 3 films are different

The distinction is important because the Malayalam and Hindi franchises have now reached their third chapters separately. Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, was released in May 2026, while Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion is scheduled for October 2. The Malayalam film continues Georgekutty’s story, whereas the Hindi film develops a separate screenplay around Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar.

Devgn said the Hindi team faced a different challenge after Drishyam 2: finding a story that could naturally continue Vijay’s journey without simply repeating the earlier formula. He praised director Abhishek Pathak’s work on the screenplay and said the new film represents a different creative direction.

That makes Devgn’s proposed screening for Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph more significant than a routine industry courtesy. The two versions now represent separate endings to stories that originated from the same Malayalam source material, rather than two adaptations following an identical plot.

What to expect from Drishyam: The Conclusion

The trailer shows Vijay and his family facing renewed pressure as the consequences of the earlier crime return. Tabu reprises her role as IG Meera Deshmukh, while Shriya Saran returns as Nandini. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj join the franchise in new roles, with Ahlawat playing SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar.

The film is directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. It is presented by Star Studio18 and produced by Panorama Studios. Drishyam: The Conclusion is set for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026.

For now, Devgn’s comments make one point clear: despite sharing its roots with Mohanlal’s Malayalam franchise, the Hindi Drishyam story is heading toward its own conclusion—and Devgn would like the filmmakers who started that journey to be among the first to judge how it ends.
