The first-look poster was shared by Bhansali Productions with the caption, “Woh rutba, woh raub, woh junoon!” Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt subsequently shared the poster on their own social media accounts, with Kaushal highlighting the January 21 release date.
The image offers more than a conventional character introduction. Kapoor is presented in a distinctly retro setting, complete with a vintage turquoise convertible, round sunglasses and a period-inspired appearance. His bloodied arm, however, immediately raises questions about the circumstances surrounding his character without revealing the plot. The filmmakers have so far kept significant story details under wraps.
A reunion nearly two decades in the making
Love & War marks Kapoor’s second collaboration with Bhansali after Saawariya, which launched the actor’s film career in 2007. The new project also brings Kapoor, Bhatt and Kaushal together in a Bhansali directorial for the first time. Bhatt previously worked with the filmmaker on Gangubai Kathiawadi, while Kapoor and Kaushal previously appeared together in Sanju.
The film has been described in industry coverage as a period romantic drama set against a war backdrop, although the filmmakers have not publicly disclosed all of the characters’ details. Reports have previously linked the story to military characters and an intertwined relationship between the three leads, but those plot specifics should be treated as reported information rather than fully confirmed story details.
The project was originally announced for a Christmas 2025 release before its schedule changed. It was subsequently moved to March 2026 and later shifted again. The current date, January 21, 2027, has now been reaffirmed alongside the first-look campaign.
