In a new interview with InStyle, Megan explained that she initially expected the voice-recording process to come naturally because she was playing a version of herself. She quickly discovered that animation demanded more deliberate vocal performance.
“I’m voicing my own character,” Megan said, explaining that recording her normal voice felt straightforward. But after hearing an early recording played back, she realized she needed to make the performance more expressive.
“When I saw it back the first time, I was like, Oh hell no. I did that way too dry,” she said. Megan added that she had to become “more animated” and change her inflection in different moments.
Despite the learning curve, Megan said she has been enjoying the experience.
The project represents another expansion of the rapper’s work beyond music. She has previously appeared in television and film projects and recently took on a Broadway role in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Her anime project, however, gives her an opportunity to participate directly in building an original animated world.
Megan announced the anime during DreamCon in Houston in May 2025, where she appeared in cosplay as Yoruichi Shihōin from Bleach. At the time, she confirmed that Carl Jones was involved and said the series would be made for Amazon’s Prime Video, although she did not provide substantial story details.
By February 2026, Megan had publicly indicated that she was beginning voice work for her character, suggesting the project had moved beyond the announcement stage and into production.
One important distinction remains: while the project is widely referred to as “Hotties,” there has not been an announced release date or a full official preview of the finished series. Earlier in 2026, Megan also pushed back on a viral animated clip that some fans believed came from the show, clarifying that the footage was actually from an unreleased music video for her song “Gift & A Curse.”
For now, Megan’s comments offer one of the clearest looks at how she is approaching the project: not simply lending her name to an animated series, but learning the distinct performance demands of voice acting while helping bring her character to life.
