Telugu actress Surekha Vani has claimed that her Instagram account was hacked after private photographs and videos began circulating online without her consent. The actress has issued a public warning to social media users, meme pages, YouTube channels and media organisations, demanding that they stop sharing the material or face potential legal action.
In a statement shared on Instagram on Saturday, Vani said her personal content was being circulated without her permission. She urged people not to repost, upload, publish or distribute the material through any platform.
She also warned that individuals and accounts found spreading the content would be identified and documented, adding that she would not hesitate to pursue legal action.
“My Instagram account was hacked, and my private/personal content is being circulated without my consent,” she said in her statement.
The actress specifically appealed to media outlets, meme pages and online creators not to exploit the situation for views, publicity or increased social media reach.

Surekha Vani asks social media users to respect her privacy
Vani’s statement places particular emphasis on the responsibility of people and digital platforms that share content originating from private accounts.
Rather than treating the incident as ordinary celebrity gossip, the actress has asked the public to recognise that the material is personal and is being circulated without her consent.
Her warning also extends beyond the original account or individuals responsible for the alleged breach. She has specifically asked anyone who encounters the material not to contribute to its further distribution.
Why the incident raises wider online privacy concerns
The controversy highlights a recurring problem for public figures: private material can spread rapidly across social media, often reaching audiences far beyond the original source.
Reposting or republishing such material can extend its circulation even after the person involved has publicly objected. It can also make it harder to contain the original privacy violation.
There is an important distinction between reporting a public figure’s response to an incident and helping circulate the material at the centre of it. Vani’s statement makes clear that she wants the latter to stop.
As of publication, her claim that the account was hacked remains her account of what happened. The available reports do not independently establish who accessed the account or how the material was distributed. No independently verified police finding or confirmed legal action against a specific individual has been established in the sources reviewed for this report.
